Actually it does. The natiral contour of most facial muscles is already turned upward. When you frown you have to use extra muscles to force the muscles to be upturned.

Test this for yourself. Put your hand over your mouth so that the palm is on one side of your mouth and the fingers are on the other side. Smile. You will only feel one or 2 muscles activate.

Now frown you should feel about 7 or 8 muscles.

(please note: More muscles are used than described above, these are just the ones you can feel.)

I would like to add one more thing. SMILE anyway and all the time. First it makes people wonder what your doing and second a pretty smile on a pretty girl gets the attention of a lot of guys.

No its the other way around. It takes more muscles to smile than it does to frown. Think about it.

of course! it takes 14 muscles to smile but 72 to frown
