Amen! I can't count the number of people whining and complaining that I've seen around here that I KNOW voted for Bush. There is absolutely no way I think Kerry could have done a worse job during this term!

For one thing, I don't think we give George Bush enough credit for what he has done for this country. Instead you all decide its better to point out the bad things that happen, when in fact -- something bad will always happen. I dont appreciate the way you called all the people who voted for George Bush as a bunch of "Retarts". Just to let you know it's spelled like this "Retard" not like this "Retart". Who's the "Retard" now? America looks out for its people and its well-being, not to mention it looks out for countless others (meaning countries). So before you discriminate against the President and the people of the United States, I suggest next time you take a good look at yourself. If you don't like it here, then leave. Below is a quote.
"America today is a proud, free nation, decent and civil, a place we cannot help but love. We know in our hearts, not loudly and proudly, but as a simple fact, that this country has meaning beyond what we see, and that our strength is a force for good."
-George H.W. Bush

Good Question! Why did so many vote for Bush? I didn't and I will never understand it.
However, when he was elected, even tho I didn't like or trust him, I thought, well, he is my president and I will support him. However after the lies about WMD and all the rest of his little secret dirty tricks, I have cto realize that he was never the man for the job, he was never a man period. I am so sorry for the mess he has made of this country and can only hope that whomever is elected next, Republican or Democrat, can get us back to being a respected country again.

Well. Bush was never a hugely popular president except in the time after 9/11 when the country rallied to support our leadership. Since 9/11, when his approval and popularity peaked, he has been on a slow slide back to mediocrity. I did not vote for him either time, but there are three fundamental issues at work in terms of how he kept office.
1) Apathy: People are disenfranchised with the democratic process in the US and think that democrats & republicans both do not care what the people think or wish. In that case, people either do not vote, or vote based on stability. If their personal life is fine, they vote for who is in power. If their life sucks, they vote for someone new.
2) Other issues: Some people are concerned about Iraq, but also feel other issues are more important, such as education, trade, tax cuts, you name it. Since no politician believes exactly the same as everyone, people vote on who shares most with them. In this case, many people voted for Bush based on his stance toward business.
3) Voting against the other guy: People saw John Kerry (Bush's last opponent as weak, and felt that was dangerous in these troubled time. They may not have liked Bush, but voted against Kerry for whatever reason.
Please note, none of that applies to me as I have never voted for Bush for anything. I didn't even vote for any of his babseball players when he owned the Texas Ragers baseball team!
I hope we have a change in government in 2008 and that we are able to remove our nation from conflicts around the world without leading to more instability and violence. I am doubtful of this because of the actions of the Israeli militia and the Hezbollah fighters.

Bush is horrible and Kerry would have been horrible too. The problem is that people think America is actually a representative Democracy when it has actually become a Corporatocracy. You need to raise money from Big Corporations and get their airtime to get elected, but then they want to help you out with the writing of laws after you're elected. So it doesn't matter if its a Republican or Democrat, they both sell the American people out and vote themselves a raise every year for doing it.

I viewed Bush as the lesser of two evils in both 2000 and 2004. Had the Democrats put forward a better candidate and an actual plan, I might have voted for them. But they didn't. Here's hoping they don't make the same mistake in '08.

First, so many of us do, indeed, understand what is going on in the world and the role of the USA in it.
Second, the majority of us did NOT vote for Bush. He did NOT win the popular election, but got in on the electoral college votes.
I realize you are ill-infomed about politics, but rest assured those of us who do care and do work towards making this world a better place to live far outnumber you.

i never voted for bush. i am mad at the people who didn't vote and/or voted for bush. there is no good reason he should be in office.
this country doesn't treat it's poor as human being, it's super racist and bush is turning the whole world against. i agree with you. we should be doing more or protesting every day. this country needs to stand together for workers rights, the rights of the poor, farmers, etc. there needs to be a huge revolution.

The first time, his brother rigged the election in Florida. The second time, the voter somehow were convinced that they prefer a draft dodger to a war hero. Bush is an idiot but his campaign people were not.
