So many posters on the internet say they've asked for a refund from "movie theatres" (that's "cinemas" in English); I wouldn't dream of doing that, it's outrageous and unfair to the cinema.

Mr. Bob: if food is off, then of course you have a right to demand a refund: if you consider a film bad, then that's entirely subjective.

Unfortunately, all of the movies I've walked out on have been at home. :S I always try to sit through an entire movie so it can have a chance to change my opinion if I start hating it in the first 20 minutes of it. I like thinking that a movie will get better by the time Act Two comes around.

I ALMOST walked out of Wedding Crashers after the first five minutes (I'm sorry, but I HATE movies that feature guys easily getting laid and it doesn't even mean anything to them), but luckily my friend held me back with the assurance that it was going to get better, which it did. *lol*

If I don't like a movie, then I don't think it's right that the studio who made it should get my money. If I don't enjoy myself while watching a director's work, why should I pay him for it?

Every single time. I'm not alone either...most of the folks I know do this. Most times I get the money, sometimes I get a free movie coupon for future use.

You are paying for service. If the service is subpar, you've earned the right to receive a refund.

Do you take a bad food product back to the grocery store? Same thing.

ive done it before and im from ireland. i left at the start of a movie before though. it was about 10 minutes into the movie and i really didnt like it and just was not in the mood so i got a refund on the tickets and they were able to give them to latecomers. i think it is really unfair for the thetre cos its not their fault if a director makes a bad movie. id never do it at the end of the movie cos then they cant even sell the tickets to someone else! i didnt do it to be bad but i just really wasnt in the mood and the film was shite!

I've never asked for money back if I didn't like a film. It's not the theater's fault... I have, however, asked for a refund before for other reasons, namely other audience members talking, yelling, and behaving obnoxiously during the movie and the theater management not doing anything about it.

most theatres have a refund policy. but they usually won't accept it unless you came out within 15 mins. of the start of the film. most people do it out of ignorance because they are too stupid or lazy to read a review ahead of time. but some people use it for more noble reasons. parents with an unruly child, docotors on call, or other emergency.

... some people probably do actually ask for their money back if they don't like a film ... but do they actually get the refund is another question.
