The reason why women are from Venus is because venus from times most ancient was cosidered a "planet" of sexuality because of the yearly "path" that the planet outlined in the sky which sort of took on the nature of a figure "8" which represented in those ancient times as the symbol of "love". People with a very keen eye, can immediately see the word "Venus" in the word "VENErial". Mars was considered the planet for men because it too outlines a figure "8" in its yearly trace on heavens sky...but being OUTSIDE the orbit of the Earth, they simply used Mars as their folklore for the symbol of man, making love to the traced line of Venus in the yearly sky. But few people honestly realize that the word "Venerial" comes from the word "Venus".

mars is the name of the god of war (roman) he is a guy. the symbol in astrology for mars is a circle with and arrow pointing up and right. this symbol is also used in todays terms as the symbol for being a male.
venus is the name of the goddess of love (also roman) she is a woman. the symbol in astrology for venus is a circle with a cross pointing down. this is also todays symbol for female. the author of the book men are from mars and woman are from venus uses this as a way to explain important differences between males and females. its a good book and look up your own answers in astrology you will find them

It's just a play on roman mythology that was used to highlight the differences between men and women and sell a book. I read it, and also the Dr. Laura book on the proper feeding of husbands. I didn't really have a romantic relationship to apply it to, but it helped me be kinder and more understanding in my other family relationships and friendships.

Its a really good book and unfortunately it does make sense. I am sure you have asked why women are so difficult or just plan different than men. That is true. Men and women really do think differently. So they just think we are just from different planets. If you think about it most people are very similar in the common basic things such as feelings, foods that they like, family values, etc.
