I have 2 desktops, 1 laptop, and an iPAC.
Out of all of them, I like my laptop the best!
I have even taken my laptop camping!
My wife uses the iPAC at work (she is a nurse) and downloads the latest drug interactions and dosages and stuff like that. She has saved a couple of lives with that little thing.
My Desktops are used for recording and video editing and stuff like that.

Desktop. I have a hard time using the finger mouse pad thingy on laptops.

I love the flexibility of my laptop. It travels all over with me, even to remote locations (wow, that sounds exotic, even though it's far from it). When I'm sitting at my home office, I run another monitor with it to give me a two monitor setup. The memory and hard drive upgrades make it a pretty formidable machine.
However, I like the function flexibility of my desktop. The speeds it performs at, does outperform my laptop and it's not quite as expensive. Plus I love having 4 monitors which my laptop can't do.

I like my notebook (laptop) much better than I ever liked my desktop computer.
The laptop is portable, does everything that a desktop can do!
As a matter of fact, my notebook does more than my desktop did because it's newer.

Desktops. Desktops are heavily customizable, have interchangeble parts (But dell sometimes tries to make you buy their stuff or else for a dumb reason), and don't have the performance limitations laptops have.

Laptop. Portable and can do anything a normal computer does except takes up less space and energy.

I like my laptop because it can do everything a desktop can do, but I can take it with me and it uses 90% less electricity. :)

A desktop because it can be configured and upgraded easier.
Laptops can not run many graphic intensive programs because they can't have additional video cards.

desktop, lappytappys send dangerous waves on your lap, and desktops are much more comfortable to type on and mouse manuver

Laptop, as it more useful to me in my daily life and work...
