I often get a blank "junk mail". It has no sender, no recipient, no subject and no text. What causes this and how can I stop it?

white on white text or a tiny gif or jpg embedded. most often used to determine if an email is valid - if you open the email it sends a "beacon" so the the sender knows the email was opened. and now your on a much more valuable spam list - a list of validated addresses. not much added value to you of course, but the spammers pay more for validated addresses.

If It has no sender than your computer or the mail server is corrupt. If it was a legit message there would be a sender address. Are you sure that you aren't pressing "write", instead of "read".

It has happened

the email was probably 'scrubbed' by a virus scanner
all the bad stuff was removed.
You shouldn't open any email that you don't know the sender even blank looking email can have hidden stuff in them
