White is the absence of color - Black is the combination of all colors. If you're talking in terms of black and white -- they are both subjective and relative, so black can be white, and white can be black depending on the point of view.

Scientifically, no. Black occurs when all light is absorbed. White occurs when all light is reflected.

Racially, scientifically yes. There is only one race of people in the world, the human race.

Philosophically, the yin/yang New Age people think they have, but I don't agree. (Good and evil are two sides of the same coin type thing).

But in court, a lawyer can prove anything he can get a jury or the judge to believe. Doesn't mean it's true, though.

Hope that helps. Hey, Ho, for conundrums.

Lol. I don't know much about philosophy, but scientifically you could probably make the argument that black and white are the same, but contain different levels of pigment saturation (black absorbing light, white reflecting light) on the spectrum, which are perceived differently by the human eye. Remove enough pigment from a black item, and it is white, and vice-versa.

Have fun with the deep thoughts, and remember that it's all in how you perceive it.

What are the determining charateristics of black and white, can one empirically prove they are different? I don't think so. Both basically, are voids with no specific description to be able to distinguish either one. Neither have texture, shape or dimension, so both have similar triats that fail characterise their nature. From the point of reasoning black and white are the same.

i can prove to you that white is black but not that black is white. go into a white room (completely white) and turn off the lights then and only then will white be black.

With out light all is black. Go into a room with out any light and what do you see? Black! Dim the light and the colors change brighten the light and they change also. The reality of color is what you are seeing or not seeing in any given amount of ulta-violet light is it's true color at that moment.

You're reversing the normal.

Instead of white is white or black is black, you're trying to prove that each is the opposite.

I don't think reversing can be applied here.

Only quasi-scientifically. With light, white is all colors, and black is absence of color. At the same time, with paint, white is absence of color, and black paint is made by mixing all colors.

That's the best I've got.
