Well, I am not sure if it is a constiitution right, but it is a duty of the US embassy in these countries to try and get the citizens out of harms way. However, I do not belive that they have a right to sue the government. The gov't did not intentionally let them sit and wait without reason. It takes time to get the proper ships to that region in order to get them out of harms way. If the proper ships are not used they ran the risk of being attacked by hezbollah and not being able to fight back.

I do not think that the US goverment should countersue. There isnt anyone in the goverment that is being harrased or is suffering by the actions of these families that were caught in the middle.

I don't think that the government should charge the people for the evacuations, but anyone living or staying there should have at least a plan on how to get out. They bombed the airport so even people who wanted to get out couldn't, then they left those people to try to find another way out. Evacuations were the most likely way to get that done. If you block or if a goverment you support blocks the legal means and methods for your citizens to escape shouldn't you offer another way? I think we should probably send a bill to Isreal, or Hezbala for the cost of evacuations and let our citizens sue them.

I don't think it is fair to sue the government and make all taxpayers pay for your own stupidity in visiting a country that is clearly on the " no visit, not safe" list that the government has compiled. Nor is it fair to risk the lives of Americans who try to save you.

Having said that though, I am glad that the government does feel the need to rescue those who are so foolish. It is the American way to take care of ones own.

It's ridiculous. They knew the potential dangers before they went. It's Lebanon after all. While I do agree that they should expect the Govt. to get them out asap., I don't agree with them suing for not coming quick enough. Kind of reminds me of the person who sued McDonald's because they got burnt with hot coffee, and won!!! That person was buying hot coffee, how can you sue McDonald's for not having a warning on the cup?? Those people made their own decision to go to Lebanon, the Government did not force them to go.

I think it's ridiculous... the US has had a stance for decades now that they won't pay for evacuation of people from other countries, anyone living in foreign countries, especially high risk ones are made aware of this...
I think it's just a sign of the times, people can't accept that bad things happen, they feel teh need to sue somebody for their misfortune

People can sue over anything, but winning is another story. I just wish when they lost they had to pay for all the legal fees. And yes the Government should counter sue to recover costs to rescue them.

the goverment is doing its best to evacuate its citizens but if you are in the middle of a war zone you have to get in touch with the local US embassy, and all this takes time.
thats my view from greece / rhodes island.

Hell no! This is ridiculous... they should have been out by themselves way before the bombs starting flying...

I don't think my tax dollars are to be used in this manner... I definitely wouldn't be vacationing in any Arab country!

quite, governments are in charge for preserving their very own borders from invasion and their very own human beings from crime. case in point... human beings are loose to shuttle everywhere. yet, in case you disobey the regulations of the land you shuttle to... you will finally end up in massive hardship. The Mexican government is ecouraging this invasion, yet of course with the blessing of "our" treasonous government. of course, it can be a possibility to keep away from illegals from working, banking, using and finding housing here. We could be very careful to place the blame the place it belongs. "Our" corrupt, treasonous government is allowing a miles off places invasion of the u . s .!!! they could be bumped off at as quickly as and punished for their treason in accordance to The shape. it quite is the real subject and the only real answer!!! The criminals who've overthrown our government like it while they could confuse us into misdirecting our anger and capability someplace else and that they are too usually effective. Time for us to open our eyes. those criminals are actually not our government!!! changing American workers with distant places slaves isn't loose commerce!!! allowing a miles off places invasion of the u . s . is TREASON!!! those are acts of conflict against the yank human beings via the criminals who've overthrown our government and pose as our government... as they unconstitutionally merge the protection rigidity with regulation enforcement to salary conflict against us as we awaken...
