He's lost all his confidence. Day after day he is booed by his own fans and ripped by New York's sportswriters. Face it. Some people fit better into playing in New York City, and some people dont. A-Rod doesnt. Nobody seems to remember him winning the MVP last year. Because of all the negative attention, A-Rod has no confidence to drive in runs, get hits, hit homeruns, make great plays in the field, or do anything that we've all seen him do for the last 10 years.

I dislike A-Rod as much as the next guy, but he's really not having that bad of a year. He'll still end up with 30+ home runs, 100+ rbi's and most likely an average between .280 and .300 -- for most players that's a great year. Unfortunately for A-Rod, that's a below average season, and since he's such an arrogant jerk, he gets crucified when he doesn't hit .330 with 45 HR's and 130 RBI's... More than likely, he'll bounce back next year and we'll all have to listen to the media call him the greatest player ever...

a rod's problems this year are 2 fold. one is he does not have have shefield hitting behind him, so he is not seeing as many good pitches to hit. shefield is a feared hitter in baseball, and most pitchers would rather pitch to a-rod then shefield. because of this situation, he is not doing as well as the fans want or expect. the fans boo him and he takes it to heart, and now he is pressing.

Even though I'm a true Red Sox fan, I have to agree with Yankeefan21....................leave that poor guy ALONE!!! Yes, we know he's not up to speed and having a downfall, but even I'm tired of hearing people knock him down. Of course he's not going to improve knowing that his so called fans are booing and talking smack about him!
