it was a different time then, people survived the Depression, which alot of you kids on here probably don't know anything about. We did have "liberals", FDR being one of the most famous.

But, if the whining and protesting that is going on today happened back then, if the general public didn't "take care" of the protesters, the police would have. And most likely, some would have been hung as traitors.

But, it wouldn't' have happened. When we were in the middle of the war, anyone who did not work for the war effort was shunned.
People were more diligent and certainly more patriotic as we were ALL working towards the end of the war. You can't imagine what it was like until you lived it. I personally would like to take every single one of those stupid protesters and teach them a REAL lesson in history.

When they call our President "Hitler" they don't have a rat's a$$ clue to what they are talking about. And when I hear these idiots say it's the Republicans who are the warmongers, I must remind them that when we dropped the bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, it was a DEMOCRAT in office. It was a Democrat that declared war in 1941. It was a Democrat that got us into wars in Korea and Vietnam. I think you kids watch too much television and don't read enough. I feel sorry for you.

they would scream 'neutrality' just as they did in wwII until pearl harbor (another attack that was known about ahead of time) gave the war a popular twist. remember, we actually knew that the japanese bombed pearl harbor. and we later declared war on germany to help the allies in france and great britain. we didn't fabricate intelligence to create a reason to go to war against japan or germany.
or is it so easily forgotten that none of the 9/11 attackers were from iraq, there is a shoddy connection at best to iraq and the 9/11 attacks, and there were no wmd's anywhere in iraq (the supposed reason for the war in the first place).
and by the way, it's spelled m-o-n-g-e-r. take some spelling and history lesson before posing such an asinine question.

Today's Liberals are no different to yesterday's Liberals, many of whom fought valiantly in the Second World War. If the existence of the USA was put under serious threat it is foolish to imagine that 50% of the population who consider themselves to be Liberals would just lie down and give in. Because someone does not hold your own political views is not a reason to assume they are not valid human beings.

Comparing US involvement in WWII to US involvement in the "War on Terror™" is a false premise. I could just as well ask how would conservatives have responded to Hitler if they were German citizens during WWII.
As a matter of fact many liberals served with distinction during the Second World War, as compared to GWB's grandfather, Prescott Bush, who was on the Board of Deutsche Bank in America and was found to be colluding with the his German counterparts throughout WWII.
Also the President of the US during WWII, FDR, was a liberal.

Actually the most prominent people against war with Germany were people like Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford both of whom where right-wing. Yes they did call FDR a warmonger.

It's apples and oranges. The US didn't INVADE any country then especially to control the oil. Your president is the FIRST one to order an invasion of a sovereign nation. Sooo, your comparison has no basis. But keep drinking the cool-aid.

We already covered this ground, a**hole. The liberal FDR wanted to help Britian in WWII fright from the outset but was prevented from doing so by the Neutrality Act. He got around this by the Lend Lease Program. Stupid, hate-mongeringl un-informed moron.

read a history book, most Americans did not give a damn and were against the war, we were dragged in reluctantly and Stalin killed far more people than Hitler did, some of the liberated from concentration camps were liberated to gulag death camps, yeah and the rest of the jews were exterminated in the soviet union by stalin,

silly. I'm a liberal and have been asking for some time now why we aren't more involved in the Sudan situation...anytime there is genocide or crimes against humanity - someone (whoever can) should step in..... those with power should always try to help the powerless.

Considering there are many 'Liberals' who have always fought for our country in time of war, considering our country was founded by Liberals I would assume they would led the battle.
