I am looking in the market research field. It sure has seemed it has! In fact, I see companies I interviewed for are reposting..It is very discouraging. In May, it was a pretty brisk market..now it is slim pickings. I appreciate any thoughts.

Thatoneguy....I respectfully disagree..the jobs that were reposted were from when I phone interviewed. So, they were screeners...it was the company that felt they needed a new candidate pool. From companies I interviewed with in person..they did not repost it. I have a lot of interview experience..so I think your reasoning is somewhat flawed.

Also, I do have all the skillsets required for the jobs and sometimes more.

The job market has been tight for about 5 to 6 years. The financial news is full of downsizing stories almost every week, although marketing people might not have been impacted as much as come other fields as there don't tend to be large numbers of them as there are with IT people, customer service people, etc.

If you interviewed for a job and they re-posted it after that. Your problem is not the market is slim. You need to work on your interview skills. I mean that means you didn't get beaten out for the job. they thought you were so bad they didn't hire you even though they had no one better to chose from.

Depends what job market you are talking about whether it is slowing down or not. Without know what kind of job you are going for there is no way to know.

Manual labor is going down.

People with high skill sets are still in demand and always will be. It does not matter how slow the job market is if you make yourself more usefully then everyone else you will get a job.

I would agree that the job market has slowed down, especially in your field. However, if you are willing to relocate, that will of course broaden your prospects. Reasons for the slow down are many, but I feel it always comes down to a company's earnings. If a company is hit hard by costs in transportation (the gasoline prices are hurting many bottom lines), they will trim areas like marketing. You might want to consider using your marketing skills and go into sales... always seems to be room for someone who can ADD to the bottom line.

i dont know about the entire job market slowing down. i have interviewed for three different jobs and gotten the job every time.

It seems to me that the marketing field in general is shrinking, but job opportunities for marketing analysis careers are growing. You may want to look into that field to start out.
