Ok,so there was this man who abused his wife. She went to court about it,but the judge didn't want to hear it.Later on,the man walked into the store that his wife worked at.He dowsed her with gasoline and set her on fire. She had 3rd degree burns all over her body. She had to have a FACE transplant. She will never be the same again.Should the man get life in prison, where he would spend the rest of his life? However,he would also get free food, clothing, and shelter.Or,should he get the death penalty?Where he would die painfully. However,he wouldn't have to think and suffer over what he did.I'm just asking opinions, respectful ones would be nice.

Well, he didn't kill her. So he shouldn't have to die. And I'm sure if he has to spend to rest of his life in prison, he will suffer a great deal, and be forced to think about what he did every day for the rest of his life.

First of all the death penalty is not painful. There are so many laws now that they have made the death as humane as possible. Lethal injection is like putting your dog to sleep. You just go to sleep and never wake up... no pain involved.
Personally I think this guy should get the death penalty. But since the wife did not die he probably won't even get life in prison. What a sad world we live in.

In all honesty, I think the best punishment would be for someone to dump gasoline on him, light him on fire, then put it out just before his injuries could kill him. Let him live the rest of his life in the same pain and agony as that of his victim.

Unfortunately, since it'll probably only be seen as attempted murder in the court, then he'll more than likely just get some prison time--maybe even life in prison--but not the death penalty.

I'd like to punish him the way he tortured her. Burn him then give him life in prison in solitary confinement. He'll probably get off easy. I think the judge that wanted to hear nothing of it should be punished too!

I answered this yesterday and today I was reading the Reader's Digest story AMERICA'S WORST JUDGES. The story you speak of is there and the judge is being investigated. It seems this isn't the only incident where he has brushed women off as he did Ms. Cade. That lady has undergone more than a dozen sugeries SO FAR. What a scumbag!!! The judge and the husband! I believe in an eye for eye, and they both oughta pay! The husband was convicted of attempted murder and assault charges in April. His sentence isn't mentioned.

Sinse the judge didn't want to hear this case and did nothing to provide protection , that judge will reap what they have sown...later at the white throne judgement. The Husband the same. For now if it were in my hands or jurisdiction he wouldn't be here. He'd do it again if he had the chance. Murder was in his heart no matter if she lived or not. Murderers pollute the land and need to be disposed of properly. Being in death is worse than prision because its just you ...your soul and you can't go anywhere to get away from a bad conscience.
Thank you.

I generally support the death penalty for people who do horrible things, usually along the lines of premeditated murder. While in this case, the intent to murder was there, the woman did survive, although from your account, she won't recover completely. I would say life in prison, without the possibility of parole. Either that or set him on fire and let him live through the rest of his life, suffering as she does.

Horrid crime for sure. But to me life in prison without the possibility of parole is harsher than the death penalty. Once the guy's dead, that's it. No time for him to rot for years and suffer. Being imprisoned for life and not being able to go out in the world and do what we take for granted...that is what he deserves. Yeah, he'll get food, clothes, shelter...but look where he'll be!!

Too bad we can't put him through the same torture. Because she lived, he will not get the Death Penalty. His life will be quiet and easy in a maximum security penitentiary, which is a shame considering the life time she suffered before he tried to kill her and the life time of scars and mental anguish that she will suffer now. I wish they could execute him, but they won't.

He should receive the same punishment he inflicted on his wife. He should be doused with gasoline, and set on fire, and then put out, so that he lives, and has to deal with the scars and pain for the rest of his life.

life in prison is my best option. He could have several reasons on why he did that. Maybe his spouse committed adultery or something. There must be a reason behind that criminal act. If he doesn't have any, its better to put him in an asylum because maybe he's just insane. That's all...
