We have SSDI because Franklin Roosevelt wanted a third term in 1940 and this was a program that would make him even more popular.

There is a concept called "net unfunded debt." This is the dollar value of promises made in excess of cash available. The net unfunded debt of social security is $11 trillion dollars.

That's 11,000,000,000,000 dollars.

SSDI is also drawn down by young people who are misfits. The current trick is to fake a suicide attempt so you can get disability benefits for clinical depression.

Americans are too tricky and phony for a governmental program of humane money transfer to work. Sooner or later we'll have to sunset this or we won't have the money to defend ourselves.

By the way! The net unfunded debt of MEDICARE is $66 trillion.

$66,000,000,000,000 --that was Lyndon Johnson's white elephant, even bigger and hungrier than SSDI.

Everyone has something wrong with them. I have never gotten to know anyone who I didn't think had at least one unhealthy habit, addiction (drugs or otherwise), or way of thinking and behaving. All such things are the result coping strategies, some of which are not very effective. The goals of such strategies are individually unqiue according to how a person prioritizes their desires. But there is no perfect set of strategies. You'll do good just to come out on top and do more good than harm. I know fat people who seem very happy. Same with drunk, druggies and the rest.

Obviously, you have never had a disability before. Have you.

I have OCD, and I thank God that I can receive SSDI. Some people can't help the way that they are, and you shouldn't judge them so harshly.

However, you do have a point to some extent. There is a lot of abuse by lowlifes who really CAN work, but choose not to, because they are just plain lazy. Repugnant!

You could learn a lot by suffering from depression, or OCD, or some other form of mental illness. I know that the pain I have endured would CRUSH you. It would absolutely BREAK YOUR SPINE. You would kill yourself if you were to suffer as badly as I have suffered with OCD, anxiety, and severe depression.

Try not to judge so quickly. See things from the sufferer's point of view.

"The land of the free and the home of the brave" Lol. That's the American way baby, you ain't heard, Ha! Why, why is right, but that's how it is and everybody is jumping on the bandwagon. You do have legit people that need assistance, but you have some that don't. The "man" don't have time to monitor everyone to see if they are copacetic. It is sad but I think in a minute I am going to jump on the band wagon myself, hehehe. Nah, I can wait till I am worthy plus they pay enough anyway. It is enough to send you into obesity, drugs, and alcohol. Lol.

Your paying that tax because someday, believe it or not you may need it. Some of them are young and could be productive citizens but there is a huge amount of people who are retarded, or born with a disability like missing limbs, deaf or blind. I think the amount of people who really need it out weighs the people who don't. I hope you can understand that!

Someday you might be one of those drunks, druggies, or fat people as you have called them. Then where would you be without that help. You should try thinking about others and not just yourself. Life might be more nice for you.

It's called life. Deal with it by trying to put yourself in another person's shoes. There are always reasons for people's motivation. If one deserving person is helped, even though underserving people are helped, too, it's worth it and changes lives for the better in many cases.

I agree somewhat. If someone is REALLY seeking help for their problems, we should help. If they are just wasting their life away, then we should not.
