original dream team was the best...hard to beat any team with a healthy bird and magic

Nothing will ever top the first (only really the only) Dream Team of Barkley, Bird, Clyde, Ewing, Magic, Jordan, Malone, Pippen, David Robinson, Stockton, Mullin, and Christian Laettner as the token college player was the best team ever, will never be topped.

In fact, I wish people would stop calling the subsequent US men's basketball teams Dream Teams, because that first team was the best team the US sent to the Olympics and no subsequent team has managed to top it yet in terms of talent. The day they can manage to put up a roster that is superior to that 1992 team is the day they should start call themselves the "Dream Team" again. Until that happens, though, they're just the US Men's Basketball Team, and nothing more.

No way. They will be good but I dont know if a gold medal is possible for them. You put too many guys that are used to being the star and always having the ball on a team, and bad things will happen. Look at the 2004 olympic basketball team.

I dont think it will be the best because the 1992 olympic team was the best, that team had Jordan, Magic, Charles Barkley, and Larry Bird, and they blew teams out. That team set a standard for how basketball is supposed to be played.

Now the team that is currently training for the olympics will be the closest to the 1992 team, because they are taking their time to practice, and they have roll players. What really bothers me is that they don't have a center. I guess Dwight Howard could play center but he is more of a forward. But this will be the closest because of their dedication and by getting players that actually wana be there.

I'm really looking forward for the olympics, can't wait for team USA to show them how Basketball is supposed to be played.
