Guinea pigs are pretty frightful animals and get scared easily. You have to get them used to you. Try getting them used to the sound of your voice first. After awhile they will be happy to see you. Don't stick your hand in there you'll just scare them. Try talking to them to try to calm them down before you try picking them up. Good luck!

WOW the 1st FEW solutions have been VERY rude! >:/ My suggestion =D: My brother has a guineap ig named Snickers that does the comparable element...we've had him for some months alongside with Marshamllow who lives in the comparable cage. Matrshjmallow although is quite calm whilst Snickers likes to horse around. i think of perchance your guinea pig is in basic terms attempting to have relaxing...Snickers will oftentimes make popcorning noises (this is a demonstration of happiness) each and every time i walk with the aid of the cage or attempt to %. him up as he runsd away kicking bedding everywhere. See if your cavy (yet another term for the animal) makes a haooy squealing noise...if he makes moreo f a rumbling sound which ability hes unhappy. It m,ay in basic terms be his character...yet you are able to practice him to be calmer with the aid of slowly each and on a daily basis putting a cope with on your hand and look ahead to him to come again to you... each and on a daily basis pass the cope with farther up your arm and finally he will start to love u if he doesnt. sturdy success playstation - im sorry that i mentioned he if your guineap ig is a she lol. no count if this is a fem,ale i meant to assert she. :D

Animals are said to be capable of sensing human character. Maybe you should work on becoming a better person - on the inside. Besides, what the animals need is a pen not a cage.

I have had gp's over the years. Some are just skittish. I had a few that I had to catch to hold but as they grew older they were fine. Hey, sometimes a gp just wants to be left alone. I think it depends on the gp. Treat them kindly and in time they will come to you.

Get down to their level and speak softly. Also make "wheat wheat" noises. Their running away is their way of playing as well. Their just goofy like that. Its hard to take mine out cause he runs, so I put his tube in and he goes in that. Makes a great "piggy elevator."

Handle them more and teach them that good things come from your hand... hold a treat out and wait for them to come get it... do not chase them around with your hand... if you do, you become a predator in their eyes... in a couple of weeks they should start to see you as a friend instead of a "hungry hawk looking for his next meal"

guineas are easily frightened animals. how long have you had them? in time, they will hear your voice and start squealing and sometimes may even run up to you.........they make cute pets, and live about 5 yrs........my sis and i had them when we were kids and we enjoyed them for many years..........they liked to stand up on their hind legs and lick ice cream from a spoon, in hindsight, the butter fat isnt good for them........even my dad felt bad when Brownie died......we had another one called Blondie, and after i got married we had one called Daisy, and later on, we raised the doggone things..........they are soooooo cute when they are newborn, they look miniature adults.......eyes open, fully furred and adorable......
good luck, s. t. from ohio
