Embarrassed? Hell, no. This isn't Ozzie and Harriet anymore. A few things have happened that have equalized the playground i.e. women's liberation, mass introduction of women into the work force, massive changes in stereotypical gender roles. The only difference today is who has the uterus. I'm going through a divorce and I have two small kids. The lawyers, counselors, etc. have all agreed that when this goes to court, I will have custody and be awarded custody. Why? I've been a stay at home dad for 6 years! Moreover, I've got proof and evidence that I've been the primary caregiver. All the court is going to ask is who takes them to school, who feeds them, etc. Then the court is going to say, how much to each of you make? In my case where I didn't have income and relied on her, the case is clear for both child support and spousal support. It's a rare case where either of these can be waived. I have an unorthodox family. So what, it's all about the kids and their best interest. Don't feel embarrassed. Be proud that you are the one seen fit enough to be a parent with kids.

BTW, if the kids have two different moms and you were awarded custody, that says something about you as a parent. Be proud.

You should def not be embaress. Both genders should be treated the same no matter what. Yeah is rare when the custodial parent is the father but you have the same right to receive support. Some men feel that is pay back, when they call me they say is time for them to be receiving support and want the case to be fully enforce if the mothers fail to pay. Is like they are representing all the fathers that do pay. Raising two children on your own is very difficult and you should welcome any money that mother can provide. Don't look at it as a macho thing and try to do it all on your own, if you need it take it.

Yes and No,

Yes you should because a MAN takes care of his own business and supports his family, so my perspective was I didn't want child support from the mother because I was RESPOSIBLE for the children and I didn't need or want her help. Besides seeking support is often a revenge tool and even though she deserved revenge it is NOT a VALUE I wanted to teach my children. Self Reliance is a key to a good man and from that perspective I was embareesed to seek child support and I didn't.

No, you shouldn't be embarassed. The law consideres it an entitlement and there are more DEADBEAT mom's statistically then men. Imagine that. I didn't get an OFFER for one cent from my ex but she had money for the new car and to help pay the rent for Mr. Stud service.

I think the state should only get involved with child support in at fault divorces. This system is stupid.

Nope!!! I think women should be held up to the same standards on child support that men are. The kids need to be taken care of by both parents. If you were still with the mom then she would be helping financially anyway.

They made these children too!!!!

No not at all. I think no matter who has custody of the kids both parents should help support the child. She wouldn't be embarrassed if she were getting child support from you.

why be embarrased, men have to pay, women should too. I pay child support and I have no problem talking about it, and telling others. At least you are a father and are taking care of your kids. Just because the kids don't live with someone doesn't mean they have no responsibility to those kids!

No, if you are responsible for feeding the kids everyday, bathing them, and making sure they go to doctor's appointments , and things like that, no, don't be embarrassed at all! Some people don't realize how expensive children are if they don't have to take care of them all the time. Nothing wrong with it at all.

If you are taking care of those children you deserve child support. and you deserve a big pat on the back for being a good man. Some men won't take care of their children at all. I applaud you!!!

Not at all. I think that if it is ok for the man to pay then it is ok for the woman to pay. Collect because the children deserve it, from both parents..Good Luck!
