People use way too much energy...we all know that...but it seems other states use their energy more efficiently than CA does...although CA has many of the same heat issues..especially in the last weeks....it almost seems like these blackouts ARE TO PROVIDE INCENTIVE TO COMMERCIALISM....IF ENERGY IS OFF AT YOUR HOUSE...YOU'LL GO TO THE MALL TO KEEP COOL OR TO WATER PARKS, THEME PARKS ETC....AND THERE...YOUR DESIRE TO MAKE PURHCASES YOU'D NORMALLY NOT MAKE GOES UP....DOES ANYBODY ELSE THINK THE TWO ARE POSSIBLY TIED TOGETHER???

I don't think they purposely let the power go out so we'll go to places we can spend money, the last time we had the rolling blackouts, I worked at a restaurant that is next to 2 major malls, and the whole area was black for at least 2 hours.

meanwhile, I call home (which is only a 10 minute drive away...) and they hadn't even had so much as a brown-out.

Doubtful. I think it is simply because California is way over populated and the power infrastructure is not capable of dealing with the massive demands of power. We use more power than other states simply because we have so many people and businesses. During blackouts, many malls and waterparks lose power too so it is not a reliable method of getting people to spend more money.

Californians are spoiled, and never ready for anything. If it happens here, us californias will whine, cry, and gnashing of teeth will be heard throughout the world.
