Because the Internet is a magical device that lets us be clever and witty and funny, all while being anonymous, thus letting all of us tap into that inner genius without putting our true selves on the line. It's like Halloween, every day, with keyboards.

Because there are people who seem to ask serious questions that don't make sense. People want to help but can't if they don't understand the question. So they ask for more information.
If you ask a 'odd' question, some people may actually want to help.

Because it is imperative for me to prove to myself and others that I am smarter than you. Also.. cause I like to be the antagonist.. the person who gets that smart remark in there.. usually changes the argument to a fight.. and I love a good fight.

Smart comments balance out stupid questions (not this question, ones like "would anyone like to kick me in the nuts?")

because peolpe think that if they do not make the smart comment, others will think they are dumb, when really the dumb ones are the ones that think that making a smart comment will make them smarter, we are all the same but people expect smart answers not dumb ones, in my opinion dumb ones are cleverer and funnier.
