Eddie Murphy is a very nice guy. When I was a teenager working in a pizza joint, he was big and still on his way up. He came in and ordered anonymously, seemed to be very shy and polite, and when he left, he left a HUGE TIP. We suspected that it was him, but we did not want to disturb him. He must have been watching us through the window after he paid his check. When I went to pick up the money, I looked up to see him poking his head back through the door. He called out laughingly, "Yep, it is me!" before darting back out the door.
Carroll O' Connor was also a very nice guy. I waited tables in Covington, GA for awhile when they were filming "Heat of the Night". He was always very sweet and completely opposite of his Archie Bunker character. Alan Autry, who played Bubba, was quiet, but he never tipped well. Pam Tillis is very quiet and tiny. Brenda Lee is jovial and unassuming. The biggest jerk I ever ran into was one of the Oak Ridge Boys....the one that had the long beard and sang deep bass(I think he is now deceased). He was demanding, rude, and then he did not leave a tip despite excellent service. Micky Mantle was quiet when I met him, but a lot of people told me that he used to be a real jerk. President Jimmy Carter is also a nice guy. Peerless Price (former Falcons Player) is a total jack @$$. There are a few others, but Eddie Murphy and President Carter had to by far be the nicest.

I've met a number of celebrities over the years. I knew Lisa Welcha when she was a Mousekateer for Disney, I met many Houston sports players when I was young, most notably Earl Campbell and Moses Malone. I've met a few singers and played with some well known musicians. I sat by James Rebhorn on a flight to Florida once, he is the guy who played the Secretary of Defense in Will Smith's movie Independence Day.

I guess the best story I have was when I was in LA and went to the Premier of "Eight Legged Freaks". As much as the movie sucked. I can honestly say I brushed shoulders with celebrities. And actually walked up the red carpet, by accident though. But it was cool seeing all these celebs walking around and the flash of the cameras going off everywhere. It was definately the highlight of my first trip to California. I got to meet Courtney Cox, who was absolutely stunning and got to talk to her and get a pic of her. And met this comedian as well who was in the movie, and he was such a pleasure to talk with. We spoke for 30min about all sorts of stuff. Even met a few writers and publicists and such. The guy was a class act! Unlike the Arquette Sisters... EEK. David was the only nice one out of the bunch. Talk about stuck up!

Long story - but have met many celebrities as I work in the music biz, but most memorable was running in to Mel Gibson (at the height of his career and he looked F-I-N-E) in a nightclub in Modesto, CA. We chatted briefly, but he was soon whisked away into the back room where a line of girls waited outside the door for him to come out. When he did, one of the girls in front ran up to him and told him it was her birthday. He took her by the hand and led her to the dance floor and danced with her as the rest of the dancefloor cleared! When the song was over, he got down on one knee and kissed her hand! She was in heaven! He left the club soon after that and I ran into him again the next day, but that's another story!
