That is definitely NOT true. A spouse could be and should be your best friend. Think about it. Your spouse is someone that you will be with (in most cases) for the rest of your life. Your spouse should be someone that you love, someone that you have no secrets from, someone that you feel comfortable with and someone you can tell everything to. So why not be best friends? You both know everything about each other socially and intimately. You should share everything with your spouse, house, marriage, children, money and a life. I was best friends with my ex boyfriend (it has nothing to do with why we broke up). He was the person I felt most comfortable with. It was the best feeling in the world to confide in someone that was so close to me.

Of course that's not true. For many people their spouse is their best friend. But it's also okay for you to have a best friend who is not your spouse.

My husband of thirty two years is my best friend. He listens to all my stuff weather it is about my goals and dreams for life or problems I am having. He represents the other side of an issue so I can make a good decision. He even does things that he does not particularly like so I can.He is my best friend and I can never imagine life without him!

False! I'd hope that your spouse would be your best friend! You are in it for the long haul whne you take those vowels. Ya'll are going to share things together that not even your best girl friend will know about.

In my opinion, to have a great all around relationship with your spouse, they must be your best friend.

if that's the case, i'm breaking all the rules. my old man is my best friend, we share a home, a bed, a son, and our dreams for the future. when i can't count on anyone else, i can count on him. isn't that what a best friend is? the only difference is, i can bang him when i want.
