shrink and therapist are the same thing, i would say the only difference is that a therapist can hold a psy.d. or a ph.d. a psychologist usually has a ph.d. If the therapist holds a psy.d. then they can only do therapy. A ph.d. allows the person to also conduct research.

To be a SHRINK, a THERAPIST or both you need to have a degree in psychology, psychiatry or social work .
A PSYCHOLOGIST can only have a degree in Psychology.
A psychiatry is also a medical practicioner/doctor, so is the only one able to prescribe medication.
