You are a 19 year old kid whose mother is trying to select something as insignificant as the music you listen to. If YOU like James Brown, join me and listen to him. Give me absolute control over your life and I would probably screw with just because you allow it. Be yourself, you are the only you like you.

I'm 58, white, listen to some James Brown, a lot of C&W, my kind of Jazz, and too much talk raido. I'm happy, no one has stuffed me into a mold that doesnt fit. Don't allow anyone to do it to you either.

Go Get 'Em...

No way, it just means you have culture and you know what's really good. I'm surprised to hear that your mom thinks you shouldn't want to listen to James Brown. It's way better than the drug-induced, violent, sexual music they're making now!

There is nothing wrong with listening to that music. Maybe you should ask your mom what she has against you listening to it. It' s not like it has an age requirement.

Firstly, what does your race or age have to do with anything?

Secondly, good music is a matter of personal opinion. Listen to what you like. Sounds to me like you have good taste.

Hell no brotha, rock on. We listen to music that makes us feel good. Who cares when it's from. A good song, is always a good song, music is ageless.

Listen to what you want. Everyone has different reactions to different forms of music. It's an art in itself and all varieties should be appreciated and it doesn't matter what age, race or background you come from. When it comes to music there is no discrimination. But that's just my opinion. :-)

I would be more afraid if you started listening to what your mother told you.

No you sould listen to what ever makes you happy and makes you feel good. Age shouldnt have anything to do with it. You should be able to listen to Alvin and the Chipmunks repetivley if it is what you want to listen to
