In all three of my pregnancies I hardly gained a thing in the first 20 weeks, even though my nausea wasn't all that bad.
Try keeping a journal of what you are eating. Get a notebook and leave it on the kitchen counter and write down what time it is and then every little thing that you eat and drink for a few days. Get an idea how well you are covering food groups and how much you are actually eating and drinking.
Get some protein shakes or meal replacement shakes, etc. and have them for SNACKS...NOT for meals. Lots of vitamins and calories you can get in you quick! Also, mix them with ice cream to make yummy very high calorie milkshakes!
Check out the link below on the Brewer Pregnancy Diet.
BTW...all three were healthy and normal sized babies.
first 7 lbs 13 oz boy
second 7 lbs 7 oz girl
third 8 lbs girl

I had lost some weight at the very beginning as well, I did not gain any weight until my 6 month. As long as your taking care of yourself, and eating I don't see why there would be a major cause for concern. But to be on the safe side I would talk to your doctor again on your next visit if you haven't shown any weight gain. Just want to make sure that Mom and Baby are OK.

Only your doctor will be able to tell you if everything is normal- The same thing happened to my mother, this lady did not have any symptoms when she became pregnant w/ my brother 17 years ago... One day she went to see the doctor because she had a 'discomfort' in her stomach and after some tests my mother was told she was 6 months pregnant!! -- My mom was 41 at that time and for about a year she had been having irregular periods so she had NO idea that she was expecting neither had she gained any weight- My brother was born prematurely 2 months later and had to remain in the incubator for about 4 weeks before he was allowed to go home. He was overall a healthy baby!

I didn't gain anything for the first few months either. I am 7 months pregnant and only gained 13 lbs. so far. My doc is happy with that. She said that if i started to lose weight, I would have to see a dietician and I do not want to do that. She was concerned though in the beginning. What I did was Drank a LOT of MILK! Whole milk. Not 2% or 1% WHOLE Milk and a lot of it. That will fatten you up and give you nutrients for your baby. Use it on your cereal, to drink EVERYTHING. When you cook. I live by it. I have a friend that is bulemic and when she gets too skinny, she will go on a milkshake diet to gain her weight back. She will drink a milkshake before bed and she gains weight. I know, she has issues but, it does work. I probalby shouldn't have used her as a resource, but she is the one who told me to drink whole milk and i started gaining weight. Imagine that, learning how to gain weight from a bulemic person! Tee hee!

I lost 10 pounds during my first month too. But by the time I went into labor I had gained 55 pounds! I dont think this is a problem at 4 months but you may want to ask your doctor at your next appointment. Just keeping eating right.

I lost 16 pounds the first half of my pregnancy. I was overweight to begin with so my doctor monitored me and made sure I wasn't losing too much. I cut out a lot of bad foods (sodas, starches, etc.) because I was afraid that my extra weight could hurt my baby and end up having a difficult pregnancy. I actually had a great pregnancy. I didn't really have morning sickness but I would gag at certain smells and get dizzy a lot and gagged every time I brushed my teeth. 10 pounds in one month is a lot to lose especially if you weren't overweight to begin with. Feel free to ask your doctor what exactly he/she was concerned about and see if you need to eat specific foods to help you maintain a healthy weight.

At 4 months pregnant, did you ask your gynae to let you listen to the baby's heartbeat? You should be able to hear that now. With today's technology, 3D ultra-sounds are widely used. Ask you gynae to let you see your baby in motion, and ask him to address his concerns with you. It's your pregnancy, you have a right to know!
But for the weight, not to worry at this point. Both my cousin and close friend lost 5kg and 4kg respectively during the first 5 months of their pregnancies last year, also without any signs of morning sickness, and despite having horrendously huge appetites. Towards the end of their pregnancies, both women remained slim, with only a small bulge in the tummy. You'll be glad to know that both babies turned out a healthy 3kg+, and both are doing just fine now.
Most of the nutrition went to the developing foetus. The first trimester is when the foetus is developing at the highest rate, thus the need for more nutrients.
Nonetheless, have a talk with your gynae, and ask him/her to discuss any concerns with you....and also seek his/ her advice in a healthy meal plan, which might help you put on some of that baby weight eventually.

im 4 1/2 mths pregnant and haven't gain a pound either. My last two pregnancies i gain 6 and 7 pounds. Both my sons were healthy, one was 7 pds and the other 8 pds. You will gain more weight in the end. But right now as long as your baby is growing, I wouldn't worry about it.

My first 5 months I lost 10lbs.
I have a girlfriend that is really small and didn't start gaining weight till after her 5th month. Her doctor told her to eat more; well eat all day and try shakes. Not diet shakes but Ensure and other protein shakes. That way you know that your baby is getting all the nutrients it needs.
Hormones play a huge role in what happens when we get pregnant. For each woman something different happens. Some women just gain 15lbs when pregnant. One of my other girlfriends just gained 18lbs in her latter months.
