Yes it does as that's a side effect of nicotene. Now for your lecture and yeah I'm gonna give you one as I feel I'm qualified to.
I watched my dad die over the course of 5 years from emphesima, he went down slowly, first needing to hane oxygen 24/7 then having fainting spells when he'd stand up too quick then basically being bedridden. His last weeks were worst, gasping, fighting for each and every little breath.
I too am a smoker and I know I am starting down the same road. I'm in my 50's and have been smoking since I was your age.
Please, if not for yourself, then for me and people like me, quit. There's no hope for us, but for you, well, maybe what I've said can help you decide to quit before it's too late. It's not a pretty way to go.

Of course you know smoking is bad for you, so I'm not going to lecture you.
Six cigarettes a day is normal. I knew a man who smoked 2 PACKS a day! That's crazy.
It is a quick escape. Instead of just sitting there, you're keeping busy with your hands and it lets you relax and think. But you could also be doing something else with your time too. A lot of people start smoking out of boredom. Try to occupy yourself better.

Stop smoking now. I'm 25 and I've been a regular smoker since I was 15 and I wish all the time I had never started smoking. It is THE hardest habit to break. I've been addicted to meth in the past and I kicked that habit real quick, but smoking, I fear, will be a part of me forever. I've tried and tried to stop, but nothing seems to work. Quit while you're ahead.

At 15 I started smoking and regret it now but not then. If you can stop now you will be so much better off in life. You'll never appreciate it later in life if you quit today because non smokers just don't understand what its like to be chained to a cigarette but trust me when I say do whatever you have to do to quit now before your physically and mentally addicted. Its the hardest habit to try and break. Get out while you can. Now wheres my lighter...lol

At your age it is normal to feel it as a way to escape or to pass time. As you age, your feelings will change towards this. When I started smoking it was because I guy I was seeing was a smoker and to fit in I joined the smoking crowd. I smoked from 1993 to 2,000- in 2,000 my life change when my brother left for the armed service- he was the one who kept me in the smoking crowd- we would try to quit together (I was the one buying) and he would convince me that this was not the time to quit once again until he left I did not have the will power to quit. Quitting is not for everyone and by no means am I telling you to quit- A day will come in the future where this decision will be clear for you. So as I said to you already- at this age it is okay for you to believe that smoking is a way to pass time and it is normal to believe so.

yes it's normal to think that. i used to smoke because of stress but gave it up 5 years ago. there are more healthy ways to pass the time than smoking. exercise, video games, books, movies, online chatting, paintball, lazer tag, etc. all are cheaper than smoking and virutally impossible to get cancer while doing.
i watch movies or read books for escapism. you just need to find something that relaxes you that doesn't involve smoking. a half pack a day is a lot for your age or any age.

Smoking is a habit like many others.
Yeah, it's not the best choice in the world, but I can entirely see when you're coming from when you say it's an escape.
