Cannavaro was the best player hands down. The golden ball should go to the bets player of the TOURNAMENT!!! Zidan played welll from the Brazil game on. Cannavaro was a solid player the whole world cup. Ronaldinho is better than Zidane. I love and respect Zidane, but u have to give tyhe award to a better player

This might sound funny coming from an Englishman, but I think Zidane is a brilliant player. It's just a shame that he was born in a French colony. I would have preferred if he was born in an English colony, like Canada or America.

no question. Zidane is the best midfielder in the world. His headbutt was the highlight of the world cup. Everyone watches his every move like their life depends on it. Zidane is a beast on the pitch.

I thought he was but when he headbutted that other guy, I now think that he was being very childish. Even if the other guy insulted Zidane, Zidane should of told the ref or someone instead of ruining his reputation with violence.
Sorry if you guys don't like what is written here but it is just my option.

it was a close call between him and cannavaro but he did won the Golden Ball Award..and they didn't bother to take it away from him even after the headbutt and all..come to think of it, he's 34 when he played in the '06 world cup..yet he still can lead his country to the final..and he showed a superb skill when played against Brazil..most of us was waiting for the all-star brazillians to show their samba skills in that game but it came out of a 34 year old french player instead..how ironic..even ronaldinho-the current world player of the year was like a rookie in that game..zidane had his ups and downs in the world cup but he was the best and worthy of the golden ball..

yes because he is the player that have a confidence that he can score a goal.and he did it .he became the football player by carrying his team(france) that only some players can do that. in this world cup he has scored the goal by some planning.in my opinion he is the best player not only in the world cup but also in the world.
