Hi there,

Yeah, it's fine. I just spent some time studying Monkey grass, cause I'm gonna use it for everything except the yard. The roots go down 5 to 6 feet, so sand on top will not hurt anything

Monkey grass is very hardy and most likely grow in sandy soil. I have it on my property. But I find that monkey grass takes quite awhile to spread. It is beautiful though. Good luck.
