Well I'm sure the system was tested internally first before getting beta tested. So it was likely someone that was testing the system. By the time it went public there were already a few people who knew about it, so it wasn't like there was one person asking questions to themself.
It was likely one of the programers, at least that is my guess, and I'm sure there are still around as long as they still work for Yahoo!
