When they are aware of needing it. (Usually around 5th-6th grade. Please, please use & encourage deoderant and NOT anti-persperant. Mennen makes one, I think Suave makes one, Toms of Maine and several others. They work well and don't clog up the sweat glands - which can lead to a host of health problems. We release toxins in our sweat - where do you think they are going if you're not allowing yourself to sweat???
The aluminum in anti-persperant has been linked to breast cancer as well as dementia & alzheimers. People stink when there is stinky bacteria caused by poor diet and lack of exercise.

I would say when they are starting puberty, that is when the hormones kick in and the BO starts, this age will vary from child to child but I would think around maybe 10-12. You could start them before this too just to get into the habit!

I had my little sister start wearing it at 8. she was playing soccer and recess sports and she came home smelling like a wet little puppy. If your child perspires alot and come home smelling even after they bath everyday, it is time to give them deordorant. They also make scents for kids too now on cologne and perfume.
