Seriously, though, a "secret password" is a word that you need to give in reply to the query "Who goes there?"

The context, of course, is the II World War, when on a foggy night the Sentry needed to know if the people coming towards him were friendly or hostile.

Therefore, they devised a "secret password" which those leaving the Camp would know; sometimes very nonsensical words or phrases, which they'd need to say when they were hailed. If they failed to respond, the Sentry would assume they were hostile and open fire.
