Body odor usually isn't a problem in children - provided they bathe daily - until they reach puberty. The age of puberty varies, of course. I'd say there's no need for deodorant until someone notices a B.O. problem.

My nephew uses is at 8, but he plays ouside alot in the heat and I think he likes to smell "like a man"

my daughter and niece were younger than that when they started using deodorant. approx. 8 yrs. old
I believe myself and siblings were younger also.

then i may suggest an earlier age.

Whenever they start developing body odor, there is no age.You will know it when you smell it.
