As a liberal I often wonder what it would be like, just for a minute mind you, to be a NEOCON imbecile.

Though I abhor many of the policies that stem from Neocon philosophy, I wouldn't go so far as to call them imbeciles. Just because someone holds differing opinions doesn't necessarily make them intellectually inferior. Remember it is this sort of snobbery and sweeping generalizations that we have criticized conservative pundits for.

With regards to liberals being too intelligent and compassionate for their own good, I think you might have a point there. Take John Kerry for instance. Clearly a learned and erudite man as they come. Yet, sometimes such a man can come across as bit too passive or ambivalent in times of crisis, thus giving the electoral body as a whole the impression that he would be an indecisive leader.

Its fine to be a man that is contemplative, restrained, and open to opposing points of view (in fact that is preferable), the way Kerry was. However, that doesn't come across well during election time, when Americans, who are yearning for someone to offer them simple certitudes to life's problems, are looking for a leader that appears bold, intrepid, and quick to action.

If liberals like Kerry and Gore would like to have some viability, they need to refrain from dialogue that seems too esoteric for the average American, and start giving the appearance of strength and absolute unwavering resoluteness during the campaign season. They need to start spewing rhetoric full of bravado and simplistic answers that pay homage to motherhood, apple pie, and rugged individualism, just like the Republicans do. You know, the bubbly patriotic stuff that the masses sheepishly accept as Gospel. That's how you win an election.

Once in office they can exercise the full breadth of their intellectual acumen and turn this country around.

To think only one side has the answers goes against the openness of liberalism. Are liberals too compassionate? Sure Are conservatives not compassionate enough? Sure

But the brandish the term on imbecile on those who don't share your view is in itself very Conservative. Fear of change? A change of ideas.

I once thought like you. I once thought like them. But since then I have risen above to see the truth. Sometimes there is no answer, at least no right or wrong one.

I hope one day maybe you can see that too.

I don't find "liberals" to be all that intelligent. Most are just hangers-on. And as for "compassion," that's usually just a show. It just makes one feel superior to go on and on about how "compassionate" they are, when in reality, they do very little, if anything, for other people. They just TALK about it, and think nice thoughts about the "poor" and "disadvantaged."

And, even worse, when "liberals" actually DO something good for others, they then want to be patted on the back and told how wonderful they are for doing it. Yuck.

Ciao, Jack

PS: I am neither a "liberal" nor a "conservative." I am just me. (Just Jack!) I am also a PhD candidate (not that that means much, many graduate students and academians are book-smart, but can be dumb as rocks in other ways...)

Funny how people see things differently. I see the liberals as shortsighted and self serving. If they truly understood an issue they would think it through to the end and make a logical decision. That is not what they have shown me. They also have this misconception that money seems to grow on trees and its okay to take as much as they want for their own agenda and slave creating programs. So its I that sees them as the imbeciles.

Yes we are the hope of tommorow. If everyone in the world were like us, there will be no wars, starvation, global warming, bans on scientific advances and it would be the ultimate utopia. Liberals RULE!!
If I were a NEOCON, I wouldn't have made it as far as I have in life by 23. I would've sat around wasted my time being a homophobic, war loving, religious fanatic and a burden to society instead of contributing to the greater good of my fellow humanbeings.

neocons feel that you can not ignor a potential threat to there security and americas inparticular so they have been mucking around in the middle east for decades.
this has led to a great amount of hosility towards america and its policies that are attemptying to change a relegion.
WE want people who by the direct word of god must kill those who do not follow the teachings of ISLAM and do not believe those who say they are peacefull people .THEY support terror by caring for the families and loved ones contribute money for and attempt in one way or another to spread ISLAM around the world.
THERE is no such thing as an Islamic person who at some level is not supporting terrorism or an all out war with western culture .OUR morality and way of life is not accepted and never will be by any true ISlamic follower.YOU may get a spin off group of peacefull people who reject that part of Islamic teaching but then you have a hole new religious group and not ISLAMICS .protestant ISLAMIC religions are also attacked and the people killed .there is no line once crossed that Islam will accept .THE teaching is kill kill kill all those who are not followers of ISLAM .
SO you have to ask yourself is it worth fighting a group you must completely destroy in order to achieve your goal .
A goal that can not be attaianed un-less you destroy everymember of ISLAM.
WE must declare war on ISLAM as the cause of terrorism and unless Islam determines to assist us in finding the more radical followers who actually follow the teaching and do not cherry pick the rules , we wil have open conflict for ever with ISLAMIC people.IT is like attempting to make one race of people into another that you can like.NEVER going to happen.
we must accept inorder to end the cnflict that we show them we have the ability to wipe them from the face of the earth nless all hostility ends and if even one act of terror is done one million followers of ISLAM will be killed .this is harsh i know but the only real solution out side of total innialation of these people

There are smart, compassionate conservatives. Just as there are liberals who are complete imbeciles.

Liberals are not that smart. If they were and if you were a true liberal you would not be as judgmental as you are being. A true liberal is one that sees the human element as most important followed by the laws of man so maybe you should redefine your stand as democratic.

yes, and conservatives are too stubborn and too smart for their own good. There is no high-road, it's all down hill if you associate with either I think.. just do what feels right on an issue-by-issue basis. To associate yourself with a huge group of people like that is not smart.

No liberals are to stupid and blinded by the crap that comes out of there mouth to do any real good and see the truth. Why not try helping someone else than wasting your pathetic life complaining about your problems and blaming them on someone else.
