My computer crashed and I need a new motherboard. I want to build one myself this time around and build a really good one.

Check around your area for a repair shop, they usually sell parts also. Talk with them because one can't answer your question without asking you some in return. Different motherboards are made to do different things. Business doesn't need a gaming graphics card, where if you play games you do. Morherboards takes different memory and cpu's. These people will ask you some questions and guide you to what you need.

You should buy a motherboard that is compatible with your OS and your system case. You also have to consider how many expansion slots you need, the types of ports you need, the type of memory, the presence or absence of IDE, serial ATA, RAID, and SCSI controllers, types and speeds of CPU's, memory cache type and size. You also need to know the bus frequencies the motherboard supports.
