they are a fusion of hard rock and funk.
They're one of the best bands in the world, I love them!
I'm a bit worried after reading some of the answers that so many people do not realise that RHCP stands for Red Hot Chili Peppers. go figure!
And if you like something, listen to it! who cares if it doesn't fall into the genre that people assume people who fall under the same 'label' as you listen to? labels are only created so that people can be made feel like outcasts.
I mean, people call me goth, emo, punk, etc. but I listen to indie, hard rock, soft rock, punk, emo, heavy metal, etc.

Just because you're a goth doesn't mean you have to listen to the same kind of music. You shouldn't care about what other people think of you and your taste in music. Don't get me wrong, though, I've never met a goth who likes hip-hop, but as long as the music you like is under the rock/alternative category, no one will really say anything.

Does it really matter music is music so what.
My friend says they're alternative punk.I didn't know they're was such a thing. Things are just to complicated.Oh and you're stereotyping yourself you can listen to whatever the hell you want. Just 'cause you're goth doesn't mean you're tied down to hard rock or anything like that. How do you know what you like if you don't try new things?

First of all, dont worry about what anyone else says, and dont be branded, they are plain and simple a fantastic band. All the Goths i know love them, and I think you ould only classify them as Funk Pop Rock, 'cause at the end of the day they get played on mainstream daytime radio such as UK radio 1 as well Kerrang. Love them

I agree with the grand verdict on this question, if you have to pigeon hole the chillis id say they were funky rockers!
I can't really relate to a group of people and I think everyone is completely unique so i don't think you should call yourself "Goth" i think you should use your own name and say thats what you are!

I would argue they are still rock music, but probably more indie rock or general rock. Also, define rock music, as there is not really one definition or complete set of rules regarding what rock actually is as a form.

They are funk rock.
Its ok to have an opinion if you're a goth. Its not about the music you live but more about how you live your life.
Music doesn't fit in boxes, much like people. CDs do thou.haha
