most of the other answers make good points and tell the truth. this misinformation is harming and killing people.
there needs to be candid discussions about all the basic facts and about the temptations too. It is a fact that the more kids know about the subject the less sex they have...Shrubs terrible policy's are damaging everything.
ignorant kids act out sexually and then they play dumb like "I don't know" there are so many Stds and that can interfere with fertility and more.
I wish all the people who are opposed to Bush would get together in stead of being in so many different little camps. there needs to be a referendum...Stem cell research and accurate sex ed for all.!!!

Bush's "Abstinence OnIy" Sex-Education program in High Schools have been PROVEN not to work.In fact, statistics show they have the OPPOSITE EFFECT.
Where oh where are the 18 or 81 year old Republicans hiding when you want them? They wont touch this.
Then again, its not the actual POINT that they work or not. They dont work.ONLY Comprehensive sex-ed works and promotes a healthy sexuality. But that IS the point.Abstinence only is another example of christians screwing up everything they can under the guise of (eyes roll)"morals".
It's all very Freudian. It has resulted in more pain and misinformation for our young people. They deserve better!

Well, let's think about this. If you abstain from sex until you are married and you only have sex with your spouse after marriage (and your spouse does the same) you're not going to get all the STDs and you're not going to end up in a situation where you're pregnant and fifteen years old. I know, that's really deep.
Unfortunately, people are going to do whatever they want. We're a very spoiled society. If you want it, you should have it now. After all, you "deserve" it, right? With this mentality I don't think people will practice abstinence.

My best guess is a lot of young people who are clueless about sex and haven't been given access to the information they need to make really informed decisions.
It's sad that instead of providing the means to have safe sex, and accurate information about why they shouldn't have sex (STDs, AIDS, pregnancy, etc) they are just saying "Don't do it." Seems like putting your head in the sand if you ask me.

There will be an increase in everything you mentioned, I call DUH-bya's Sex Ed. program the "bury your head in the sand" and hope it will go away program versus something logical like passing out free condoms and promoting Planned Parenthood.

I think that it's not the schools job to teach kids morals, it's the parent's job; but since so many parents are letting the school system raise their children, the abstinence only program is best.

The only way to prevent teen pregnancies and STDs is to make sure teens know how to prevent them. I strongly believe that condoms should be provided for free in schools. It won't encourage teens to have sex, but it will encourage them to have SAFE sex.

It's just going to result in generations of misinformed or completely uninformed kids going out and experiencing sh!t on their own and paying for the forced ignorance with disease and death. To hell with this "compassionate conservatism", it's neither.

how about lowered taxes due to a significantly lower number of welfare babies. How about less abortions, and more wanted/planned children. How about less disease and STD's because of proper contraception.
