That was about 2 years ago...so why are we sending more troops into Baghdad? I thought we accomplished our mission.

Bush wouldn't lie, would he?

It was such a foolish act for the president to have done in the first place as people were and are still unclear of what his mission was! Was it to cause wanton destruction of a country? Or, was it entirely a personal vendetta? If so, rather it was indeed so, yes he can continue chanting 'Mission Accomplished'! But even a primary school pupil would know that America has achieved nothing by attacking and changing regime in Iraq! It has only led to destruction of property and loss of lives, including that of American soldiers who still keep dying and will continue to get killed in the streets of Baghdad for many years to come!

The reason he said that is because the mission had been accomplished. He was referring to the defeat of Saddam's organized uniformed army. It was defeated in a couple of days.
Right now we're helping the Iraqi government get set up and organized so that we can bring our soldiers home. The new government, the Sunnis, the Shiites, the Saudi Arabians, and so many more are asking the president to keep the soldiers here for some time yet.
So, the mission was accomplished in a couple of days, but new problems pop up that couldn't be foreseen, except by wisenhimers who never get tired of finding fault with everything America does. You're a good example.

First of all he was on an aircraft carrier NOT a battleship there is a big difference!!!! When he said Mission Accomplished he was referring to the fact that we had just toppled one of the world's most brutal dictatorships. No one anticipated the current violence and extremism, but now that we are there we must stay until this is all over or the world will become a more dangerous place.

The part of the mission - removing Saddam and giving the Iraqi people a chance at determining their form of self government was and remains accomplished. Just because you tired, hopeless, pathetic liberals have no patience to see a difficult transition period through, not unlike the one that our own country experienced in the 1770's and 1780's and similar to what Germany and Japan went through in post WW II times - it doesn't surprise me at all. You have no patience to do the difficult things - all you want to do is sit around and criticize and look on the dark side of things. And that's what makes you a mentally deficient liberal...

we have to get the insergents under control and the military does not know how to do this .All the people or most of them do not want us there .IT would be like america being invaded and the invaders asking us to turn over ted kennedy .IN mass. they would never find anyone to help them but people from texas would be trying to help them find him.same as bush being wanted and texas hidding and supporting him .
this is all about politics and nothing to do with democracy .WE want control of one of the oil producing nations and Iraq is the choice .WE will never have the support of the people and without it we will never win the war .

If you listened to his news conference yesterday, it is because "we need more troops to protect the Iraqi people from themselves". As far as lying, it is hard to say, as a bible waver when it suits him, I'd have to say he is not lying, but as a reasonably aware person that doesn't hide behind a best selling work of fiction, he is either lying or stupid. Take your pick.

That was in referene to the U.S.S. Abraham returning to the states. Not the mission in Iraq. Sorry to bust your bubble and those who have tried to say other wise.
