2 things possible,
If it is real silver then it will tarnish from oxidization and reaction from the oils in your skin. This can easily be cleaned with a silver cleaner you can buy at Walmart or any store that sells jewelry. They are little jars and you only have to dip the jewelry in for a few seconds and then rinse clean.
If it is fake or just plated then it will eventually wear off and the metal or sometimes plastic underneath is black. These are usually the cheaper jewelry so replacing them is the easiest and cheapest way.

IT'S BECAUSE OF THE AIR...U CAN USE SILVER JEWELRY CLEANER WITH A POLISHING CLOTH THAT WORKS GREAT...VERY INEXPESIVE AT WAL MART AT JEWELRY DEPT. I ONLY WEAR SILVER. IF U DON'T WANT TO GO THAT ROUTE USE TOOTHPASTE BUT IF U CLEAN IT WITH A TOOTHBRUSH BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH IT BECAUSE THE ABRASIVE WILL. PLUS U NEED TO GET AT LEAST 925 IN SILVER, IT'LL HAVE IT INSIDE THE RING OR ON A TAG ON A BRACELET OR NECKLACE. SILVER PLATED WILL TURN NO MATTER WHAT U DO

Silver tarnishes when the silver turns to silver sulfide. It's a reaction to air (oxidization).
