Hedgehogs are natural burrowers and require a place in which to burrow, sleep and just splat.

They do not dig into the ground like rabbits or moles, but will tunnel into hay stacks and such. Each Halloween or Guy Fawkes Night in UK, tens of thousands of hedgehogs are accidentally burnt alive in bonfires...............
