They have that patch before they start. If you look at the lineup before they play, lots have it then.

It's football and I don't care what anyone else says.

Maybe it is stain because most people for luck don't wash their clothes.

As for paining you about soccer being part of the name football, it is a way to tell which football it is talking about. There are more than just football/ soccer. Here in America, our football is very different from soccer. It pains me to compare any of them because soccer/ football here is not the cool World Cup football. But if you don't play in helmet and pads, I don't think of it as football. Sorry!

Sarah, is this to do with the Soccer World Cup, or Irish football or Australian Rules football. It is probably because the players were eating buttery sandwiches before they started and wiped their hands on the front of their shirts. Are you sure you are not talking about football - Soccer..................

It is probably vaseline in case they get grass burns

It is called Soccer in many parts of the world, US, Australia, NZ and South Africa for starters. Who says it has to be football.

Most males have a hairy chest. More sweat is produced where there is hair. That is why you see a wet looking patch on their chest.

Football in america is soccer and it should be called soccer world wide. This would make things easier.

It's the Vicks Vap-O-Rub as a few other people have mentioned.

But who really cares what people call the sport? For the English, it's a lift...for me, it's an elevator. For you, it's a torch. I'll still call it a flashlight. And it doesn't bother me that we have different names. Why are your panties (um, knickers?) in a bunch over it?

Most footballers that have it are using something like Vic's vaporub to clear the sinuses
