So I need to find some kind of website that will let me describe a book (since I have no idea of the name of said book or the author) to help me find the title. Does anyone know of a website like that? I tried googling it but didn't get much...

Ok here's a summary: I read it about 10 years ago. Fore some reason I feel it has the words "beacon", "light" or "sky" or "fire" in the title, something like that.
Its about a boy that lives w/mother and younger sister(I think). There is some kind of light in the sky and he finds a scortched circle in a field by his house. He finds a strange little creature on the water next to their cottage and later finds an alien boy. (I am fairly certain the name of the alien boy is "Ben", or it could've been the name of the main boy, though) His family takes this boy in and cares for him. I remember a part where the alien boy is chopping wood and slices his foot right through his boot, and he goes to the scortched circle area and puts dirt in his wound and it heals. They later find another girl alien child but she is wild and is found in a mental institution. The alien boy is pretty naive at the beginning of the book but by the end he is very intelligent. I think he might die at the end too? NE1?

On amazon.com you can enter a word and it will search inside the book for that word. Maybe if you know a character name or something like that.

Book Search is a tool from that searches the full text of books that scans and stores in its digital database. One best example site is Google Book Search http://books.google.com/
Note: Google Book Search remains controversial. While many hail the initiative for its potential to offer unprecedented access to what may become the largest online corpus of human knowledge, the publishing industry and writers' groups decry the project as a wholesale rights-grab. The Authors Guild of America and Association of American Publishers have individually sued Google, citing 'massive copyright infringement'. In June 2006, a French publisher announced its intention to sue Google France. In 2006 the German lawsuit was withdrawn.

Most sites like Amazon or library online catalogs use structured subject headings to provide subject access to books. Like for example, on Amazon, the book "Mayflower" is categorized by 13 different subjects, such as "United States-Colonial Period" and "Pilgrims (New Plymouth Colony)"....you just have to find the right keywords to use.
