How many Americans actually know any Canadians to base their opinions on? Ever vacation or spend any time in Canada?

I have family members who are Canadian. To tell you the truth I really don't think much of it at all. Whether either nation wants to admit it or not... We much more alike then we admit. What we want, how we live, what we believe in, are all relative to one another. Maybe it is just me but when I see the globe and North America catches my eye I don't see two nation, just one.

We focus on the details far to much.

Most of the western world belongs together, we share to much to stay apart. Our combined strength and resources could be put to better use if our efforts were combined.

Or maybe it's just me...

Half of Canada spends the winter here in South Florida, or so it seems. I've been to BC, Toronto, Montreal. Quebec, PEI, and Nova Scotia. Canadians, to me, are a more humane version of an American. They are easier going and definitely not jingoistic warmongers. When Quebec was voting on independence, I was rooting for the French to protect their culture, until I realized that it might mean the the destruction of Canada; and the consequent absorbtion of some of English Canada into the USA. That would have been sad. Most Americans, I think, really like Canadians, and hope you guys are around for a long time.

My family is French Canadian. My aunt and uncle still live in Canada (Ontario). I've been to Ontario twice, and Quebec three times. I love Canada!!! I love the people, they are so friendly. I love the buildings, and the architecture. I love the black squirrels ;) It's like America, but better. I really want to apply for my dual citizenship, but it's such a process. I think I am going to have to settle for visiting. I don't know much about politics, but then, I don't follow American politics either. As much as I love Canada... I have to say, I'm Québécoise at heart: VIVE LE QUEBEC LIBRE.

We don't think about Canadians. Sometimes we have to be reminded they are still there.
