I dress like a boy because the clothes are more comfortable and look better and have a mohawk. I sit like a guy and have my nails short but only so I can play piano better. I guess I do look like a guy but I don't do it on purpose. I would much rather look like a girl in boys clothes with a mohawk (How do I do that?). But anyway, what kind of lesbian would I be considered? I like all kinds of girls though. I know I shouldn't lable myself, but I just want to know what I would be considered if it ever came up? And, if you don't mind my asking, how do I look more like a girl without changing the comfortable clothes and hairstyle?

Hey It's Shane from the L World! J/K But I've always been considered a tomboy because I liked the comfortable clothes (ie. t-shirts, jerseys, baggy jeans) and the tennis shoes also, but I try to dress more feminine now. I don't wear make-up and I'm not into all the jewelry and I bite my nails so they are short. Before I began dating women, I was already being labeled as a lesbian because of the way I dressed.

You are a butch.

As far as how to make your self look more femine - why don't you go to an Avon party or a department store and let the people make you up? There are plenty of make up books out there. Don't you have any girl friends or sisters who would love to have a crack at making you look a little more femine?

If you want to look more feminine you are just going to have to get some female clothes. Why not choose female styles from out doorsy type retailers? Get some fashion magazines and purchase some clothes that you like in them. You can also go to some stores and try on some clothes.

Also, you will have to adjust your posture. No matter how you dress up someone like Audrey Hepburn, Madonna or Jessica Simpson - they are going to give off sex appeal. They know how to move their bodies and they walk with grace. If you want it - then make the effort to cultivate it. You can't sit like a guy any more and you need to walk with grace.

Just give it time. If it is not worth working for it is not worth it.

Really, you do what makes you feel comfortable instead of trying to fit into labels that you give yourself and that society gives you as well.
What kind of lesbian would you be? Sounds like you would be a soft butch lesbian. But that's a label. You don't necessarily have to go with that.
How do you look more like a girl? Are people questioning your gender, is this why you are asking? Cause if it is, then understand that society puts gender labels on people.
But if you wish to look more like a girl without changing your comfortable clothes and hairstyle, then I'd suggest maybe some jewelery and make up.
Hope this helps
:)

I have the same problem except the part about the mohawk. I would probably say your in between a tomboy and butch but the part about looking like a girl i cant help you much there try wearing earings or some other jewlery and maybe wear a little makeup like lip gloss or something.

Appearing more feminine has only a bit to do with what you wear etc. It has a lot more to do with how you walk, talk and carry yourself. For example, if you wear baggy jeans and have a mohawk and walk with a bowl then you will appear far more masculine than if you walk with good posture and poise.

well if you want a label..then maybe you're more tom boy.
To look more girly..how about some make-up, nothing drastic..so try lip gloss, eye liner..makes a lot of difference..and oh..pluck your eyebrows...just the stray hairs..I think it usually makes a face more feminine. Think Avril (before she went pop). Shes tom boy but girly. You can also talk more feminine..like play up on your higher tones?

How about some make-up and jewellery. Nail polish. I think that would make a big difference

A little bit butch, or a tomboy. Find someone whose style you admire, make their acquaintance, and ask for help.
