Hi,
I went to Cuba a few months ago and loved it. The beaches were beautiful the people were very friendly and we stayed at a great resort. My friend's husband is very much against taking a vacation in Cuba as it is a communist country and he says if you go there you are supporting communism. Is he right? I guess I never really thought about it before. I was thinking of going back in a few years but now I'm not sure. Any advice?
Thanks

I am Canadian so travelling to Cuba legally is no problem, any ideas what to say to my friend's husband who seems to "hound" you if you say you're going to Cuba?

I don't have to sell you on Cuba, you have already done that. Ive been 5 times and love it also. Don't tell him your going. Do whats in your heart and enjoy your vacation next time. Maybe hes jealous cause he can't go.

Cuba is on the USA Banned destinations and Americans cant go there without special permission from the goverment.
But now, in saying that ... other countries have no problem with Cuba, the country is very unique, and is rapidly becoming a tourist destination. As far as supporting Communism, we deal with China and Russia all the time, the largest communist countries on the planet, and it's fine ... so as long a you go to Cuba legally, enjoy it ...

Go Back if you loved it when you where there the first time go back again, it is one of the best places in the world to go. Just because you go to a communist country doesnt mean that you are supporting communism. You are visiting this region regardless of what form of government the country is under. You shouldnt listen to your husbands friend he has is own set of values and opinions, this is his view. Know one is looking down on you as you step off the plane comming home from Cuba, saying that you support Communism, most people dont care. All i can say as a person who has been to Cuba is go back enjoy yourself, go there because you want to go there. I dont think you are supporting Communism and even if you are who cares it's your choice. Good Luck.

I never thought about it either. But, what a jerk. It is a communist country, but does going there mean that you are supporting communism? No way! I love Cuba and I love Cubans! I look at it as supporting the Cuban people, what a wonderful culture! I look at it as, we help the citizens support their families with the money they make at the resorts that we go to, and with the souvenirs we buy and the tips and gifts we give them. They are very gracious hosts and have a beautiful country that I will continue to visit. Just because we don't support Communism, doesn't mean that we need to punish the poor people that live there.

Communist is China also ,but Americanos go there ,I dont see the exception, Cuba is part of the new world close to north and south america ,in the caribbean seas, I have a cousin married to a Cubano and they travel to Cuba on humanitarian needs. I dont understand that the U.S.A. has diplomatic relations with COMMUNIST CHINA and not with Cuba!

I am a Canadian, and we have no such ban on traveling to Cuba. I've been there twice. Wonderful beaches, resorts, and people there are geniune and warm. They have such colorful and unique culture, I think everyone should experience. Never let politic get in your way of exploring the world.

US voters can go back and forth to Cuba. Shouldnt be a situation for tourism applications. There aren't any flights to Cuba from any area of u . s .. you would possibly want to make your thanks to Canada or Mexico first with a view to get to Cuba.
