The "free press" is free from government intervention in editorial work. Otherwise, they'd be the "government press", full of censorship and suppression of information, the kind of thing our Founding Fathers wanted to prevent in this country.

The judicial system is the primary means to redress grievous errors in the press (i.e. libel, slander, etc.)

Or would you prefer that the government regulate your post & correct the error inherent in your question? :P

Their errors are regulated to a certain extent.
Civil law-suits, a drop in sales and a lack of credibility are all prices they pay for errors.

go to media matters.org. they call out the errors. and offer e-mail addresses where you can write your compliants.
