I do my own therapy with my son, you can do it on your own, but it's not easy. Here's what I do with my son to help with his behavior issues. Mind you, this doesn't completely take them away, but these things help. First, They tantrum most of the time due to sensory issues. Get two books. The Out of Sync Child and The Out of Sync Child Has Fun. The first book will help you identify which sensory issues he has,the second gives you fun games to do with him to help him with those issues. Second, you have to keep him busy, actually playing WITH him. When I get lazy or too busy to do this, he makes me pay for it! Get you both on a schedule, and stick to it. We have routines for morning, after nap, and bedtime, and the rest of the time in between is free time so that he learns to do some things without a routine. He has simple chores listed on a chart that we do together, and this goes a long way with him, gives him something to be proud of. After chores, is playtime. We do things like play-doh, fingerpaint, play with cars, computer games, whatever, just so that he's getting one on one. This helps with his sensory issues as well as socializing, learning HOW to play with another person, etc. Third, if your child has sleep issues, that needs to be straightened out. That will cause behavior problems, big time! That's where our bedtime routine comes into play, and for awhile I had to give him some chamomile nightly to help him establish a sleep pattern. After six months I was able to take him off the chamomile, and he sleeps perfectly now. Fourth, I put him on vitamins and supplements from Melaleuca. It's a wellness company that you sign up as a preferred customer and promise to order every month. They have one supplement that has a patented formula that makes them more absorbable, and it basically repairs the cells in the brain. This has done MIRACLES in him! I also give him their children's vitamin, also extremely vital. Contact me if you'd like more info on that. Fifth, when nothing else is working and he is completely off-course, I give him a very small amount of melatonin to help him get a handle on his tantrums for a few days, then he's fine again. Now, my child isn't bipolar, so I don't know if the melatonin would interfere with that, don't know a whole lot about that one. I would ask your dr. if melatonin is safe with that. Hope these ideas help, good luck to you, and feel free to contact me.

People are just mean and inconsiderate. I agree with the blonde doctor... you should have him in a school that works with wonderful children like you son. I had to write an in-depth paper on autism and it was the most eye opening event in my life. I think more people need to be educated on autism. I bet your son is absolutely wonderful. Keep you head up, stay positive and forget about others.

I determined in my teenagers that I did not wish to father any kids as a result of the dreadful ache I needed to get via in my formative years from what I believed was once a genetically inherited ailment - continual bronchial asthma - I didn't consider that manner approximately my aspergers syndrome (it was once known as savantism / fool savantism while I was once youngster) due to the fact that it was once now not considered as a ailment, even though it was once certainly genetically inherited in each my mum and dad bloodlines, despite the fact that now not scientifically profile because it did not have to be - there was once lots of anecdotal proof going again no less than to the seventeenth century, as we have been honestly bred via the Crown for our savantism, as have been the entire landed gentry William the Conqueror introduced with him from France to colonise Britain after the cull of the Anglo-Saxon land-house owners that dominated the nation earlier than him. I didn't even wish to get married, due to the fact that I felt it could be unfair of me on any younger woman to invite her to marry me while I had no purpose of fathering any kids for the intent I have simply defined. But I forgot the ones regulations as a result of a extreme head damage at 15, met a lady, requested her to marry me, received engaged after which later, received married, after which even later nonetheless, tupped her, and we had a bit of woman. However, it was once all an excessive amount of for me, and I misplaced my reminiscence once more the day she was once born, and, approximately 11 years later, had a frightened breakdown while contradictory recollections started bobbing to the outside, so I had a vasectomy, which was once somewhat past due, seeing I had left the steady door open and the pony had bolted. So I'm now not going to deliver you any recommendation by hook or by crook!

You have an autistic child? It's time to stop caring what people think. They are just uninformed.

Who do you have working with him? You need professional help - there is no way you can do it on your own. Do you have him in a "special" school? He will get the most help there, then what he can get in a public school setting. Good luck.
