Recently I have been going ot on my sundeck for 20 minutes of sun exposure. I figured if I used a sunscreen I would be out longer to achieve the same tan I could have in less time without. I know the dangers of the sun so I go out between 1:30 and 2:30 pm and I don't stay out to burn, I make sure to time it so I don't. I don't go out every week, just during the summer and not a lot. I don't seek the ultimate tan, just a light to medium one. My skin is average-sensitive, about a 3 1/2 on the scale to 6 (dermatologist chart).

I see a couple good answers here, for others please read my exposure time of 20 minutes and note that this is not a daily thing. It is more like an every two weeks or less activity during summer. I avoid the sun otherwise.

Going out between 1:30 and 2:30pm suggests to me that you DON'T actually know the dangers of the sun, as those are peak sun exposure hours -- i.e. the WORST time of day to be out in the sunshine!

If you're truly only out there for 15-20 minutes a day, however, you probably don't have too much to worry about. That's actually the recommended amount of time people SHOULD spend in the sun each day, in order for their bodies to make enough Vitamin D to stay healthy.

However, unprotected or prolonged exposure to the sun will make your skin age faster and can increase your risk for skin cancer. There really is no "safe tan," unless your tan is coming from a bottle! That said, your 20 minutes is probably not terribly risky, as long as you are truly limiting yourself to only that much direct exposure daily.

It gained't take care of from wrinkles or solar damaged. you won't be able to be tan without adverse your pores and skin. really you're burning your pores and skin once you tan. even as human beings of say Irish descent stay contained in the solar too lengthy they don't tan because their body would not produce the melanin that makes a persons' pores and skin darker in visual charm. even as someone who does tan receives tan their pores and skin receives darker. you recognize the way honest human beings purely turn pink and peel? properly it is truly a similar ingredient you're turning out to be yet you purely do not see it on the exterior besides the undeniable fact that the wear is executed. have relaxing getting pores and skin maximum cancers. you should continuously placed on a minimum of SPF 15 on your body and face. something less than that does no longer something. toddlers are so ignorant lately.

The damage done by sunburn is caused by oxidative stress to the cellular [lipid] membranes. To neutralize or reduce this process, one must increase the level of antioxidants (not synthetic supplements). But PLEASE...antioxidants can only be had through fruits and vegetables; so focus on those containing lycopene (red in color). If you don't like tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon, etc., or can't get these fresh from the vine, check out Prevention Proof. I like their products because they're backed it up with credible research; not from lame testimonials or from some doctor who's "on the payroll". Good luck!

If you want to tan, try a self tanner such as Aveeno. It's much safer. Plus you won't burn or get cancer.
