Happiness is very individual. Some people are introverted and happiest when they have time on their own. Others are extroverted and are happiest when they are surrounded by people.
In general, things like love, companionship, financial security and job satisfaction can be linked to happiness.
It depends on the man's personality, the stressors in his life and his priorities.

A lot of things ranging from fun & games, toys, movies & music, gadgets & electronics, cars, theatre system, ps3, xbox 360, and yes, sex & girls..., and money to get all these...
But all these give temporary pleasure that you will move on to other "happy" things... It just keep going on... and on... and on...
Utimately, it's love that gives you joy... Family love, friendship love, especially relationship love... Of course, love also comes with pain... If not with pain, it's not love at all... (And yes, relationship love may include sex... which make a man even happier)

Love yourself first. Don't try to please him all the time.
Ask him what he needs. If he doesn't need anything, leave it at that.
Ask him what his love language is (acts of service, words of affirmation, gifts, touch, and time) and go from that. It could be that giving him gifts will not be as sweet a gesture in his mind as maybe going for a walk or doing the dishes.
Before you go out and buy him a new car or something, talk with him.
