The Human Rights Act does nothing but give effect to certain articles of the European convention of Human Rights. So if anything needs changing its the convention. Anyway, in answer, no i don't think the convention needs changing, it guarentees everyone their basic rights. I do however think that the Eu Ct of Human Rights needs to say that bad prison conditions arent a breach of your rights, or whatever other things people use to escape their dues. I would argue that these shambles of sentencing, giving rapists 3 years etc is against everybody elses human rights (right to liberty and security). Its a very long shot, but so is some of the things criminals have tried to abuse their rights. So yes and no, something needs doing, but its not a change in the convention.

Human Rights are a never ending debate and no one will ever agree on how deep this issue should be however there are some basic decencies that should be observed. All human beings have the right to live. No one is the world should fear retribution for disagreeing with their government. It is a child's right to an education. No one should go hungry for any reason given the amount of food that is thrown away everyday. All people should be considered equal no matter of race, religion, choice of sexual orientation or financial status..
In a perfect world this would work but for right now we need to address the issues of food, housing and medical care and then build from there.

The Humans right act has done nothing, all the rights in it were already enshrined in law, only difference was they couldn't be exploited as easy before.

I agree with Boris,as soon as you break the law you have infringed the rights of every other law abiding citizen and therefore forefeit your right to claim that your own rights are infringed until you have paid whatever penalty has been laid down...
