Infinite..............thats a word for it....
actually speakin...we call anythin that out of our limit as infinite!!(look at those physics formulas & maths ;))....
so this is the same thing for universe....we don't know how long is it...as we have not yet reached the limit....and it will surely take hell lot of time for that!! we have predicted the amount of time required to go through the universe ...but we haven't ever explored it!!! so until and unless we do the experimentation on our part ...nothin can be said...!!...so as i told b4..its out of our reach...and hence is INFINITE..!!
p.s. hope i cleared myself !

The universe doesn't have a end because in the past years scientist have found out another planet or moon and of course it took a lot of studying to find it well.. other words the univers doesn't have an end because it just goes on and on and on with no end so that indicates that the universe is infinite.

I think it has no end, but is not infinite. Since most everything in nature is composed of spherical shapes, the universe may be the same. So if we go far enough, we may end up where we started. Like the equater around the earth, there is no end to it, but it can have a definite length.

I don't know which one is really harder to think about. I mean grasping the idea that the universe is infinite and continues forever is a really tough concept to grasp. But let's say it's not infinite...let's say there is an end....let's say there is a wall at the end and there is nothing beyond that...no space no time...just nothing. I have to admit that that is a much harder concept to grasp...that you reach a point in space at the edge of the universe...and beyond that there is nothing...that's something that i just can't comprehend. I think in truth the universe is beyond our current understanding. As a physical thing I don't think we can represent it in any 3 dimensional model. Perhaps one day we'll have the ability to chart a 4 dimensional representation.

The universe has a definite end as far as the material that we know of. The farthest expanded stars and gases are about 14 billion light years from here. Beyond that, however, there has to be something. No one knows what it is. But I am sure that it is not simply just a void. Whatever lies beyond what we can see or detect I believe is infinite with no beginning or end and no way of measuring it.

It is expanding with the leftover force of the Big Bang. So the 'end' is an expanding wave front, with literally NOTHING on the other side. At least in the material realm.
Unless, of course, there are other 'bangs' out beyond this one. Maybe there's a quantum foam of universes beyond our own. Gee. Suddenly infinity is looking pretty crowded!

the universe is not infinite, it will either continue to spread out unitl the cosmos is completely cold and dark, or it will reverse and close in on itself (the big crunch)

The universe is expanding in a higher dimension. You are not thinking correctly.

No one ever knows... No one ever set foot in the end of the universe before, even in history.. as long as we keep on exploring... someday, we can find our answer...
