I think the suggestion about asking a doctor is good. You're not going to find any kind of specialzed seats at Babies R Us.

Our daughter broke her leg at 8 months old, and she had to wear a full-body cast. The hospital gave us a special car seat that made up for her lack of mobility.

First definietly atart with your pediatrician... if they don't have a suggestion... the Britax Roundabout is the safest seat on the market and the only one that you can tether in a rear-facing postion (helps you get the best position and fit for your carseat) They are pricey but I think even Target carries them now... to support her head use rolled recieving blankets placed on both sides of the head (this is what I was told to use by the person who installed my carseat for me (also have someone check your carseat installation (8 out of 10 carseats are installed impropely) many local police departments have a trained specialist to help you with this ..you can check out the different britax craseats on their website www.britaxusa.net
they make a carsear called the regent (formerly husky) that is made for large children or for older children with disabilities (it goes all the way up to 80 lbs- something to think about after your child is older if need be) good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have any other q's

The best solution is to ask your doctor first. He will have suggestions for head and neck support. Most likely you will be able to buys accessories to make a regular car seat work to your needs. here is awebiste that you will find a great selection with free shipping http://www.kidzthings.com/index.html

In my opinion you should go with the most comfortable car seat which is the Boulevard from Britax. It has a lkot of comfort options with extra padding that will hold your baby very well. Plus this seat is a convertible so you will be to use it rear facing first and forward facing later.

I hope this helps.

Get a convertible automobile seat that is used rear-dealing with or forward-dealing with. i don't be responsive to the place you reside, yet maximum states require babies to be rear dealing with till a minimum of a million year, so which you need to get a rear-dealing with seat besides. Having her legs bunched up isn't a protection risk - the seat isn't designed to guard her legs in the 1st place, or they could be strapped down. The seat retains her torso stabilized and shield, so she does not bypass flying out a window or ruin her backbone. in the construction of an quite severe accident, this is attainable that she could get a broken leg or some such inspite of no count if her legs are scrunched up or no longer, yet a broken leg is minor whilst in comparison with what ought to happen.

Try to find a convertable carseat the tilts back at and you can add the head supports for her. I had one of these for my first child from the time he was an infant to he was 2. Mine was a graco. It was soft and puffy and cradled him the way that i liked.

Check at wal mart
sears
k mart
and target.

good luck

Find a company that sells physical therapy equipment for children -- they should be able to recommend something for you. Or contact your local early intervention program if you are not already involved with them. They can be a fabulous resource for you. Ask your pediatrician for their contact info if you don't know it.

Try a convertable carseat. It is bigger so when she gets bigger she will fit into it, it lays back while she can't hold her head up well and it grows with her! Good luck!
