Your school should have people that help you find internships and whatnot, but you still have to have the talent to get these positions. Maybe you could try making good connections with the right kinds of people now, or switch to something more practical like fashion merchandising.

Reasearch .... find as many related events, people, places, and things as possible. I think that if your work isn't already getting attention you need to focus just as much on meeting anybody and everbody you can. The more poeple that are aware of you and what you do the better. In the business world who you know can always get you in the door. Don't limit yourself to any particular location.
